The 4th Steering Committee Meeting

On March 22, the fourth Steering Committee Meeting of the EU-funded project Association4U gathered the key stakeholders to discuss the ongoing state of the project and its future.

Deputy Ministers for European Integration, heads of the relevant departments in Ministries that implement the Association Agreement (AA), representatives of the EU Delegation to Ukraine and partner projects, as well as the staff of Association4U, had an opportunity to review 55 annexes on the implementation of project's plans and to voice their proposals on improvement.

Olga Stefanishina, Director General of the Government Office for the Coordination of European and Euro-Atlantic Integration noted that all major projects, including development of the information and analytical system "Pulse of Agreement", preparation of the Action Plan for implementation of AA and the Report on implementation of AA in 2017, the Government-Parliamentary Roadmap of legislative support for the implementation of AA, were all carried out with a continuous and consistent support of Association4U.

Olga Stefanishina also expressed gratitude to the project for the support of the Government Office with the providing EU legal acts translations and communicating European integration of Ukraine.

Deputy State Secretary of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine Tetyana Kovtun commented: "Association4U is a super project!"

Team Leader of the project, Dr. Janos Zakonyi, noted that the project has already used about 65% of the man-days within the framework of the Fellowship Programme. This means that Ukrainian government institutions receive timely and qualitative support on the implementation of AA from the project Fellows.

The Fellowship Program Coordinator, Tetiana Biletska, called on Ukrainian government institutions to involve Fellows into implementing AA in their departments if they have not done so yet.

Olena Konoplia, representative of the Office of the Vice Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration added that over 150 Ukrainian specialists involved in the Fellowship Programme contribute to the success of the day-to-day running of government institutions.

As the next meeting of the Steering Committee is to be the last, the main beneficiaries of Association4U expressed their wish to continue the project.
